Working life vs Studying life

I started working in NUS on
Thurs, 16 Feb

I was tinking how
it will feel to wake
up everyday @ 6 am

I haven't done tt for a
long, long time

today is Day 8 of working
& I'm adapting

pple at the lab r nice &
boss gave me a
proj on my first
day of work

the first day @ work is
now very vague in my memories
... the only thing I
remembered is tt
everything was arranged
nicely for me

& Bus 95 frequency has
SUDDENLY become
v GUD!!!

the frequency is about 5 minutes!!!

first day is odd ... no more
lectures to attend, no more
bumping into frenzs,
no more gg back to hall
to take afternoon nap
& no more gg back @ 4 pm

working hours definitely pass
away faster den
lecture hours

I don realli enjoy
attending lecture ... I can
never stay still
for 1.5 hours

to me, it's a real torture ... so
in this aspect, working
is gud

I watched two spanish movies
on Saturday

Spanish directors are real genius !!!

My most memorable afternoon
was watching Almodovar
'Talk to her' ...
tt was the most precious afternoon
as far as I can remember

on tt Sat I watched two of Camus greatest
work 'The Hive' & 'The Innocent Saints'

I feel terrible after watching
'The Innocent Saints' ... watching

a disaster slowly unfold right
on the silver screen can be

a traumatic experience

Even with their resilence & their
ignorance of the vulgarities
of life ... the peasant
family cannot escape
their tragedies which circle
around them like vultures,
claiming the dead

the 21th century is the century
of the Hollywood ...
Hollywood makes entertaining
movie but they don't often
produce movies as rich
as some of Spanish's greatest
directors

Saturday passed like a
breeze, cool but
short-lived

the following week ... I only
remembered two
things

ARSENAL WON 1-0

IN SPAIN & I saw
Im S00-jeong
on the silver screen again

New Year over so Valentine Day Arrives

I bought my bluetooth headset last
week ... & has been toying
with it ever since

I'm juz tired of the
earphone Nokia has provided me
... it's darn unreliable

Talking about Nokia, my
phone will be at the
care centre tomorrow, this is the
third time since January

I bought Nokia to give
me more convenience

I have maximising my warranty
ever since =(

the bluetooth headset is
cool for listening to mp3
... as for receiving
phone call, it's really not
up to the mark

anyway I thought I will
be the last person to buy
the headset ... this is testimonial
of the statement
"when circumstances
changes, people change"

MH was back for the Chinese New Year ...
so we finally met
up with him on Thursday evening

he said "everything time I'm back
in town, I will taste
Thai Express once"

we chatted a lot, though a couple
of our classmates were missing
... it has been
increasingly hard
to organise gathering & Minghan
even suggested tt he
wanted to plan a weekend
gateway next time ... he
targeted eight pple ... we said "
Good Luck, pal"

maybe it's the spicy food or the
good weather or the good
food ... my apetite
has been especially gud
since last Thursday

Uncle was back from Taiwan
on Sunday ... & he bought
more cuttlefish
back home

I have been munching cuttlefish
during CNY ... &
I nvr got tired of it

Taiwan's cuttlefish are much
cheaper & nicer
den the one I bought in
Singapore

uncle used to sell
cuttlefish for a living
during his early teen

but my mum & uncles
don't have as
much interest
for cuttlefish
as me

Saturday was the last
painian for 2006 ...
it's a strange painian
... we din used the
bus for house-hopping

we used the cab instead &
we spent about 2 hours per home

my house was photos-browsing
+ variety show ...
den we went to SY's house &
played with his
dog, Shandy & his small
brother ... last stop
was CH's house...

we had a hearty dinner at Cafe Cartel ...
the last time I was there with
ZZ & CH ... I was oso v
full... tis time I was even more full ...
the ribs were juz too big
for me ...

overall, this is an enjoyable
New Year for me ... now it's
time to start to work
hard & save $$$

finally the sun started to shine
again on Monday ... I haven't
swim for the past 2 weeks

swimming in the teaching
pool is a diff
experience ... I was
enjoying myself
tt I almost got burnt

later in the afternoon, I met with
KL & we watched 'Walk
the line', the movie
which swept all the major
awards @ the
Golden Globe

'Walk the line' is a movie
as gud as all the awards
it has won ... I saw
the trailer a month back &
was impressed enuff ...
but watching the movie
confirmed my guess ...
'Walk the line' is smashing stuff

'Walk the line' will be a great
Valentine Day movie

'Any plans for Valentine
Day?'

I had been asked a couple of times
during the last week ...
even mom popped the question

well, I have nothing planned ...
tt y I'm here typing

even though I'm not celebrating
it, I still think

My voice is back/ Driving / Post CNY shopping/
Starting work

after close to 2 month, my sore throat
is healing ...

I don feel any inflammation anymore
... so it kinda cool to
hear my voice again

tis New Year has been gud to me
... never expect
my
ang pao $$$ to exceed
my last year collection

I'm saving up the $$$ ... 2006
is abt saving $$$, when
I have surpluses
in 2007, then I will

start to spend the money

On the fourth day of
new year, I was still
having a hangover from
the excitement
of the first few days of
new year

I was out at
Orchard doing
some shopping with KL

shopping in Singapore aren't
quite value for $$$ &
the selection is limited ...
but I have too many
torn clothes in my wardrobe

I finished the afternoon
with two tops

on thursday nite ... I went
Aivee's hse with CH & SY
juz to pai-nian ... but there
wasn't anything in her
hse to satisfy our hunger ...
we ended up @
Starbucks

my driving lesson
started last Friday ...
I FINALLY REALISED
WHY ENGINE WILL
STALL !!!

there are so many procedures
& I'm NOT a multi-task
person ... so the second and
third lessons were quite
challenging for me

If my legs are busy ... I couldn't
concentrate with
my hand-work & vice-versa

My instructor kept repeating
his instructions until
he kept frustrated lor

It's v farny ... he got
angry during the middle of
the lesson but at the end
of it ... he will
be like v fatherly ... his
favourite line "beginners, it
always like this".

It will be a steep learning curve
for me ... but I will bide my time

driving is fun ... but I hate it when
the car in front of me
stop or drive v slowly ...
den if my engine stall, my
EARS will suffer

I missed Jayce's new year dinner
for a second time in consecutive
years & I might
miss Sec 4's classmate reunion
dinner tis cmg Sat

tis cmg Sun will be
the end of CNY !!! time to
start working hard, I
reckon

I have a helluva break
since I graduated ... it has been
abt six mths

I have nvr thot I will
be taking such a
long break

Longer than I expect!

but I'm glad I have made
full use of my time ...
it has been a well-spent 6 mths

Work will start in Feb 20 ...
it will be part of my 10 years
plan

10 years later ... no one can
predict what will happen

someone once said "No one
can predict when one's
career will end or what twists
& turns it might take"

What I know is it ... 10 years can
juz pass v quickly

I was @ my former student's home
yst ... it was 2000 when
I thot him ... & now it is 2006

his parents chatted with me
for close to 2 hours & den
I spent close to 2 hr chatting
with my former student

we can click v well ... but when
it comes to soccer we
support opposite clubs

by the time I left his home ...
it was 2:12 am ... I still have fond
memories of my first tutoring
assignment

what I like abt tutoring is
to see my students improving
gradually ... & then aceing
their exam

it's like watching a flower
blossom ...

watching your little
bean seed sprouts when
one was in Pri Sch ...

these are moments I nvr
forget

tt is y I think it's rather
cool to work in
the building &
construction industry

turning a barren land into
a mass of concrete is
a satisfying feeling

mabbe it's in the gene ...
uncle was a contractor
& I spent some of my June
holidays helping up in
his firm

pple says I'm crazy
abt my concept
of a second career,
after I have established
my first

I see it as nothing wrong,
in swapping the thing you
like, for the thing you
love
