An age of austerity

Yesterday, I finally have the chance to
fully focus on finding a job.

The first half of the year was about trying
to tie up all the loose ends of my thesis.

Getting my research published is really
a real hassle. To me, the crux of the
issue is that after going through
all this nonsense, you are
not getting a single
cent from it.

To me, it sounds pretty illogical, like ,you
are their slave. That is also partly
the reason why I am leaving
research.

With equity starting to look more
attractive, I thought it would
be advisable to save more &
use the money to invest
when the time is
right.

Bought at the right price, certain stocks
might triple after a few years. In other
words, a dollar save will mean $3
in the near future.

I consider stock investing as a long-term
hobby. It is here to stay.

Met up with Kwun Ho and Bryan as Kwun Ho
was back in town. It has been years since I last
saw him.

It is always a pleasure dining and drinking
with them. The feeling is always extremely
relaxed.

Kwun Ho wanted me to be one of his 'brothers' for
his wedding in Shanghai. I don't know
because I don't quite have the budget
for it at the moment. So I wasn't
able to agree.

Touring with them should be very fun
since Bryan knows the place very well
& Kwun ho's wife is a native.

Anyway, I will think about it again. At the
moment, I am just enjoying not being
in the lab, not having to prepare
"ingredients" for experiments.

Anyway, I am real determined on
getting rid of my nascent belly. I have
cut down on my diet which include
my favourite coke and supper. I will
stick to just 3 meals a day and nothing
else in between.

30, is I realise not just a landmark number.
My metabolism starts to slow down
precisely at that age. My hair is
also getting lesser. How nice
it will be like if we can age
without appearing to be
old.

Arsenal season started last week. It has been
a traumatic summer for arsenal fans.

Even the AKB (Arsene Knows Best) fans are probably
deflated by Wenger's relatively inactivity
during the summer.

If Arsene Wenger is a stock, he would probably be
like Li Ning or Sino Environment. Things can
change very fast in real life.

I remember Sino Environment, Jiutian Chemicals
and a lot of S-chips were favour of the months.
The directors were super ambitious & the
stock prices kept going up. But when
it grinds to a stop, things were
really, really sour, just like
a really bad romance!!

Anyway, Arsene Wenger is not the flavour of
the month. He has been at Arsenal for a
long, long time and no matter how
bad things are, he deserved to
be respected.

The four summer signings aren't exactly what
will turn fans on. It's like asking for
Godiva and being given
Hershey.

Although, I am a blind supporter of Arsene Wenger,
I don't have a good feelings about his
summer purchase. It is like being
sold the future again, sometimes
the future just never
arrive.
