A long break away from blogging/
2 weeks to Hokkaido
It has been like many weeks since I blog
... never really lose the feel
to write except tt I
haven really been at my desk ...
& the weekends were packed
I guess I still enjoy writing, but
I always have a problem
sitting still ... the max
I can is one hour or much less
mum said I couldn't sit still when
I was very young ... actually
nothing much has changed except
tt I learnt to "conceal" by not
doing the things tt rqd
me to sit still
Honestly, I haven't do a lot
of reading for my Hokkaido
but I'm really looking forward
to it ... the scenery,
the food, I think it will
a great sensual experience
A week ago, I rented a Toyota
Vios to test out how rusty
is my driving ... I haven't really
park a car without using pole
since I passed my exam in 2007
Eugene was my "instructor" in
the afternoon ... & in the evening
a couple of frenzs were in
my car commenting on my
driving
After dropping Eugene off, it was
my first time driving alone, n Eugene's
home was a long distance away
from where my frenzs were
meeting me ...
Overall, I think my driving wasn't
a disaster but it wasn't comfortable
enough to be in my car
but I guess it's safe enough
On tt day, I saw a papillion on
the street of Singapore for the first time.
It's still a puppy, but the way it
walks is so graceful ... I was
remarking to myself "I love papillion"
I still have about 2 weeks to improve
my parking skills ... colleague Larry
has offered his car for me to learn
and so has Yihao

celebrated mum's birthday with cousin
fam @ the buffet cafe at
Ritz Carlton ...
heard tt the place was good ...
but I wasn't tt impress
tt with the food ... the sashimi
was quite disappointing ... the oyster
was fresh but not big enough ...
the dessert was however very
good, so I think it sort of make
up for it ... sweet stuff
is after all still the
best ... I wonder
y some pple can't stand sweet stuff ...
to me, they are a gift to the world
the Japanese Fish mart @ Pasir Panjang
served v gud food though ... Pingting
introduced me to the place &
I went with my colleagues for a
second time ... the sashimi
is v cheap & v good & the saba
is v fat & v cheap & the
shishamo is ultra-pregnant, so
much eggs, so nutritious!!!

Many months ago, I was at borders
& I saw a book titled "The Black Swan" ...
I was wondering what was tt ... but
I din check up the book ... months
later, I bought the book
One day after buying the book, I
thought tt this book might
end up collecting dust ...
"The Black Swan" is an
amazing read IF u can
finish it ...
"Black Swan" is about
risk management but
the writer is a
masterful storyteller ...
I luv the ending of the book ...
something I quite believe in
"I am sometimes taken aback by
how people can have a miserable
day or get angry because they feel
cheated by a bad meal, cold coffee,
a social rebuff, or a rude reception.
Recall my discussion in Chapter 8
on the difficulty in seeing the true
odds of the events that run your
own life. We qre quick to forget that
just being alive is an extraordinary
piece of good luck, a remote event,
a chance occurrence of monstrous
proportions.
Imagine a speck of dust next to a planet
a billion times the size of the earth. The
speck of dust represents the odds in favor
of your being born; the huge planet would
be the odds against it. So stop sweating the
small stuff. Don't be like the ingrate who
got a castle as a present and worried
about the mildew in the bathroom. Stop
looking the gift horse in the mouth -
remember that you are a Black Swan.
And thank you for reading my book."
