Happy Belated CNY
this is really a belated CNY wish.
although it's fun, I think I'm
really worn out.
Pai-nian plus working every day
all of CNY is quite tiring ...
In the end, it's quite worth it,
the few days of work ...
now I'm a bit more
relieved tt I got
some stuff to
report ...
My ultimate wish is to graduate
ON-TIME ... & tt is Aug
2010
Graduation will be like a dream
for me ... like finally disposing
a heavy baggage ... tt kind
of feeling is probably
v exhilarating
I have written about 30% of my
thesis ... not a lot
in other pple's
opinion ... but I think
it can be done ...
In honour year, I churn out
70pg in one week ...
tt was v tiring ...
but as with last min
work, there is anxiety,
excitement n pain ...
Graduation have been sth
I have been working towards.
In a way, these 4 years really
isn't fun ... it's nth like
undergrad as in
u don really have so
much control over a
lot of things ...
but of cuz I don really have
any serious regrets ... I
will make the same
decision again if
I got to choose
one more time
continuing with post-doc
is another thing, I
will probably say no
Doing research is sometime
like being a chef ... u have
to prepare a lot of
ingredients just
to get a dish done ...
except for research
sometimes u don
even know whether
the ingredients are good ...
______________________________
juz before CNY, I attended
a korean orchestra concert
with Kian Leng
the conductor was korean
so it's was pretty
tough trying to
establish rapport with
the crowd using his
limited English
I think he's irritated KianLeng
quite a lot with his corny
attempts to stir up
some noise from the
stand
To be fair, it was really v v
corny to the core
These are excerpts :
"My next piece is Paradise" ...
"U know Paradise" "Yes"
"Singapore is Paradise"
then he kept saying "I
love Singapore"
there are a lot but it has been
a month & I can't remember
then ... but the real fun
is to hear the joke
& notice Kian Leng's
expression ... tt is
the real deal
Brown Eye Girls were also
in Singapore a couple of weeks
later & den "Da Mouth" was
in Singapore, the deal was
to spend $150 at Puma
to get a pair of tickets
Honestly, it's quite a good deal
& I like "Da Mouth" music
a lot ... with them you either
enjoy it or u find their
music really off for u...
I find them v innovative
& really a breath
of fresh air
Their new album is pretty good ...
but comparing "万凸三" and
"砖石糖", I will chose the latter.
"砖石糖" is really v good, the
album got lotsa good songs,
& the relatively faster tracks
are very good ... the composers
did a very gud job, absolutely
top notch stuff ... listening
to such music makes one
feel v alive
It's pretty strange to mention it,
but elva's singing style has
a masculine feel to it ... not
as masculine as Lady Gaga ...
but masculine enough to stand
out from the rest
I hope "砖石糖" will not
be the last of her works.
