Gloomy weather


Today weather is pretty uninspiring.
The weather is as freakish as one
can imagine. Even if the weather
is good, it's doesn't make a diff,

I will still be at home writing
thesis anyway


went to CK's wedding on Sat. I
was surprised he slimmed down a lot.
I have never see him so slim and
so happy before. It was a great
chance to meet up with sec sch
frenzs; I havent seen Andy
for like more than 10 years,
same for Susan.


Susan said she couldn't recognise
me after so long. Tt's the
wonder of contact lens. I have
a very bookish image during
sec school & JC.

I wasn't as hardworking
as my classmates think during
JC, it's just the image.

Pal christabel said I got a poker face.
I think she is probably right, I
always have a lot of devilish ideas.
In the end, I mean no harm ...
just a lot of fun


Anyway, a number of my sec
sch frenzs are getting
married; some are
having children or
in the process


I see some of them around &
I can feel they are happy. Most
of my frenzs in a steady
relationship are happier
than without it.
tt's pretty good, so the
many studies reported
were right!


I don have a satisfying answer
when my frenzs ask me
question abt relationship.
I guess it's a matter of
both the right person &
the right moment.


My life has been rather turbulent
since 2007, a bad time
to meet anyone. Conditions
are improving though; the most
impt thing is to complete the
thesis ...


I think I will nvr study again ...
nt for MBA or CFA or
any other thing.

went for Jap Buffet @ Miramar hotel with
KK, HL, Max, Vivian, Yvonne, Eric, PT,
DL and Maggie. The sashmi
was v gud & so was the
tempura.


Then we order lotsa of shishamo ... I think
at least 50 of the pregnant fish. The
best way to eat it is to
dig out the eggs ... it's
super chewy ! Eric was
digging out the eggs for all of us...
But I think it's super unhealthy
to eat so many shishamo ...



We went for movies after tt. It has
been ages since I went to the
cinema.

The group is v fun. I think
i'm the laziest among all of them.
I have only organised one
get together this year.

went to a floral exhibition with Kian Leng
last week. This year exhibition
is average; but to be surrounded
by beauty is a still a very
good experience.


Then I mention to Kian Leng about
my ambition to be a farmer. I have
lotsa ambitions when I was small including
cab driver, lawyer, pilot & research
scientist.


#1 Cab driver is still attainable; but
I think it's not really suitable
for me. I am too hyper to
enjoy being trapped in
the car for so long.
I always have very interesting
chat with cab drivers though unless
I am very tired. Some of them
are incredibly entertaining &
there was one cab driver with
very crisp voice, I told him
he got a voice of a singer. But,
still, Cab driver, hmmm, quite funny
when I think of it


#2 Lawyer. Pal christabel is
gg to law sch. I think it suits
her much better than med sch. She
said that I am always so 'evil'
to her but I always make her
laugh, tt's the point. My only
attribute that is suitable to
being a lawyer is that I think
fast & rebut fast. Tt it ...
so mabbe nt in this life.


#3 Pilot. Quite unattainable cuz I got V bad
eyesight !

#4 Research scientist. This is
sort of what I have been
doing till now, so basically it's cleared. I
have always think tt this will
be one part of my career but nt
the whole of it.


#5 Farmer. Kian Leng was
very excited abt the idea. If I were
to be a farmer, he's the best
partner. We can be
part of a team, heaven &
earth. We are quite different
but I consider it complementary.
He's the conscientious type while
I'm always thinking of doing things
differently. Actually, farmer
should be like a retirement job ...
a perfect retirement job. You
have food & you exercise ...

The first half of August will be
v impt. If everything goes well,
then I have a very good chance of
submitting my thesis in
October.

First half of 2010 just flew away


Half of 2010 is now over. This is
as fast as 2009.


Time has been so precious during
my 4 years postgrad. It's like

you just need to make your
project works.


This year, the weather has been
pretty very freakish ... lotsa

rain & in may the sun
& the rain occupies

half a shift each
day


Hopefully, the silly weather is
over soon. The second
half is crucial, I want
to put a full-stop
to my postgrad.

Now I'm at Page 125 of my thesis
& the last experiment. The
groundwork has been
completed, hopefully
there will be no major
hiccups ...


Then ... THEN I will need
to get all my students thru
their 'A' & 'O'.


It will be merry time after tt...
at least for a while.


Teaching 'A' was a new experience
for me ... it was really out of
my comfort zone, but at
tt time I really couldn't
refuse the parents' request
because I enjoy
teaching Jonathan a lot


He's a nice chap, very courteous,
diligent, intelligent & very
respectful.

This World Cup I have watched a couple
of 2:30 am matches ... it has been
ages since I do tt ...


The matches are not really tt
exciting ... but its the non-footballing
issues tt really spice things up.


#1 has to be Octopus Paul. Are pple
getting more superstitious? First there
was octopus, then there was the
bird, den after tt there was
another octopus 'cousin'?


#2 Luis Suarez handball save. The second
edition of Maradona's hand of God. He
wasn't wrong. Pple tries to argue
about the morality of his
act, I think they
really got nothing better
to do.


#3 Maradona "tactical discipline". He
is still the best entertainer of the game.
I told a lot of frenzs, you can't sack
him. "How can you sack someone
who has given so much to Argentina?"

So does it applies to investment

Anyway, EPL season is gg to begin.
I still think the best place
to watch soccer is with
pals at Arsenal fan club. The atmosphere
is really great & the food is fantastic!!!

I was writing & writing until I really
couldn't write anymore ... so

Pedro Almodovar, the
Spanish film director


He averages a movie once every 3 years


I admire such directors a lot. I think
it takes inspiration to be creative
but a lot of courage & belief
to carry it through

I watched "All about my mother" and
"Broken Embraces" in the past 2 days


People classified Almodovar's work
as melodrama. It does have
the attributes of the genre.
But if you follows his work,
you might think tt
classification is contentious


There are certainly doleful or tragic
moments in his films, but
everyone of it has a surprisingly
beautiful ending.


The real charm of his films are
their ability to surprise. You
never know what to expect &
his storytelling technique
is fantastic. You don't usually try
to predict the ending because you will be
mesmerized by the movie throughout.


"Broken embraces" is less dramatic
then "All about my mother" but
it's still a wonderful piece of
work


"All about my mother" is
more of a feminine movie. I think
ladies will emphatise more with
the characters in the movie. The
dialogs, expressions & the
transverstites are colourful
enough to watch!
