Opening a can of worms

I have never used this phrase before
& I will never imagine that I will use it.
If you have nothing to eat & you saw a can of "food".
It's the only can! Will u open it??


Tt's a bit of re-invention of the phrase but the point
is I think I self-sabotage because I am
desperate. I thought of doing the
microarray experiment for
my thesis so that my research will be more complete.


Basically for non bio-geeks, microarray allow you to
monitor ALL the genetic changes in the cells
during your experiment. The idea is
good. But it's like if I were to you one
million dollar and put you on a barren
island ... do you think the million dollar
is tt useful? Now I'm trying to
make my 50MB of data useful.
It's like finding food on a barren
island, a bit tough.


Now I'm almost done with the tidying out of the data.
It took much longer than I expected.
I'm left with the last part of the
experiment then its adieus
to lab work ... for now, or forever?


Boss had a chat with me and he asked me
about the future ... He told me not to be
overly concern with getting the right
career the first time ... I donno
whether he was surprised tt I
told him I wanted to move out of
research. Some people was surprised.
But I'm not surprised at all ...
I think I will be more surprised
if I stay in research long term!


I donno where exactly I will be heading,
but I wish to join an innovative
company.

Last Friday evening my tuition ended early,
so I took the opportunity to watch midnight
soccer with Dick ... The Mac place tt we went
to were filled with Eng supporters.


We are anti-England fans ... & when everyone
was in agony when England spurned a chance ...
we were silently delighted (not exactly silent) .


Algeria does seem to have better ball handling
skill than England. England has one
of the most successful league in the
world but they are still miserable in
terms of technical skill

Dick has a method of betting in the world cup.
The method seem to work ... but then you have
to play most games for the unexpected to
even out. Singapore pools have evolved
a lot ... you can bet so much stuff
then in 2002 when I last bet.


There is top goal scorer, winning continent,
the rounds of knock-out, under or above
2.5 goals & a lot of creative options.


I don't treat soccer betting as a form
of investment. Tt wat most gamblers
believe in. AN INVESTMENT. I
treat in as an entertainment
device. So I only use
the equivalent of a
good dinner as
the budget for
my betting this
World Cup.


The feeling is quite fantastic for example, if you
bet for England to win the World Cup

& pple say you are nuts. Then you
show them the winning ticket
after the FINAL. And for
$5, the entertainment
value you get is quite
worth it.


So I was bargin hunting
